POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Communications Coordinator will work directly with the Marketing & Communications Department to develop and implement annual public relations campaigns, track campaign results, assist in the development and review of communications, create content schedules for various communications channels, plan and evaluate events, and arrange outreach activities to promote YourCare Health Plan, and when applicable, Monroe Plan for Medical Care and/or MP CareSolutions. The position is also responsible for maintaining databases and preparing reports.

Event/Sponsorship/Community Relations Activities

- Develop annual event schedule – enrollment-based vs. awareness-based
- Oversee staffing responsibilities for all events
- Help prepare staff with necessary promotional and communications materials for events
- Produce and implement event recap form
- Develop event satisfaction surveys and distribute to vendors for events we host
- Attend events and represent the brand when necessary
- Assist Community Relations Representatives with sponsorship and/or event activities, building relationships, and communications collaboration with CBOs
- Maximize quality and outcome of events – high exposure, minimal cost

Digital Communications

- Assist in monthly content planning for social media channels – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter for YourCare, and Facebook and Instagram for Monroe Plan
- Schedule daily posts and paid advertising
- Prepare quarterly and year end reports
- Assist in responding to daily communications with current and potential members via social media channels
- Increase social media followers, engagement, and prospective inquiries
- Create, manage, and organize a regular video content schedule
- Capture and build photo content folders for YourCare and Monroe Plan to be used in corporate and digital communications
- Quarterly review of website content and copy – YourCare, Monroe Plan, MP CareSolutions
- Regularly communicate with departments and implement new website content

Corporate Communications

- Maintain brand consistency throughout all communications
- Assist in drafting internal/external communications
- Act as daily point person for RR Donnelley relationship, and member/provider communications operations
- Responsible for soliciting content for all newsletters – member, provider, employee – and crafting and revising content
- Interface with graphic designer for projects with necessary design elements
- Develop employee communications plan
- Review and revise various documents (i.e. handbooks, policies, PowerPoints, etc.)
- Optimization of member communications
- Maintain efficient operations and focus on cost management

Public Relations Activities

- In collaboration with the Marketing Communications Manager, develops annual public relations plan and activity schedule
- Organize regular media “meet and greets” with beat reporters and journalists within Buffalo and Rochester markets
- Crafts all media-related communications including media alerts, press releases, run of show documents, speaking points, etc.
- Assists with providing positive media training opportunities for necessary employees
- Manages all communications with media representatives in an effort to pitch newsworthy content
- Communicates all scheduled interviews and on-air time, and distributes necessary materials, to participating individuals
- Distributes published and/or aired content to the Marketing Department as well as participating individuals
- Plan unique “media drop” or promotional activities for local media groups
- Produce quarterly and year end reports
- Maintains the organization’s crisis communications document
- Participates in crisis communications meetings and/or tabletop exercises with the organization’s Incident Management Team
- Achieve maximum earned media coverage for minimal cost
- Proactively identify high-potential PR opportunities

Total must equal 100% - essential functions should be completed at least 10% of the time


OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Position may require overtime hours, evenings and weekends

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in business, marketing, or public relations
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Business, Public Relations, Writing and Marketing Communications
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Strong understanding of social media outlets
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good team player; able to work collaboratively and effectively
- Valid, unrestricted NYS Driver’s license – travel is required; approximately 20%
