POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting staff in using business software, operating systems, phone systems, video conferancing equipment and computer hardware.   Under supervision from Network Administrators, a person in this position will also assist with the configuration of computer hardware, operating systems, and business software.  The position requires the identification, research, and resolution of technical problems in response to requests for technical support.

 Support staff in using business software, operating systems, and computer hardware.

 - Apply advanced techniques in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.

 - Assist end-users in using operating systems and computer hardware.

 - Provide tutorials and other appropriate educational techniques to assist end-users.

 - Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution.

 Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software under supervision.

 
- Work with Network Administration staff in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems.

 - Assist in advanced troubleshooting of network, server, and workstation hardware and software.

 - Install desktop and laptop PCs from images.

 - Prepare computer equipment for disposal, by removing confidential information and salvageable parts from equipment.

 Provide backup support for network administration when appropriate.

 
- Perform essential network activities under emergency mode or recovery conditions.

 - Perform essential telephone system activities on a backup basis.

 - Contact vendors and recovery personnel for support.

 - Support network administration staff as needed to provide coverage for essential monitoring and operating activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

- High School Diploma
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good listening and oral communication skills.
- Sound reasoning and problem solving skills
- Ability to learn new skills.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or equivalent experience.
- Formal certification through A+ or Microsoft curriculums is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Windows XP/7 and Windows Server 2003/2008.
