POSITION SUMMARY
The Database Administrator (DBA) will work under the general direction of the Manager of Ancillary Solution Support and under the Monroe Plan’s regulatory and policy framework. The Database Administrator provides enterprise-wide administration and production support for corporate databases and is the technical expert and leader for the creation, integrity, stability and security of the Monroe Plan and YourCare databases and servers.
The Database Administrator will have a strong understanding of the database development life cycle including data modeling, database coding, testing and implementation and will be responsible for performing database maintenance tasks. The Database Administrator will serve as the subject matter expert on MS SQL Server and related technologies; will ensure database availability and oversee data modeling including oversight and consultation on proposed modifications. In addition, the Database Administrator will be responsible for performance tuning and analysis of MS SQL server instances, databases and queries. The Database Administrator will also be responsible for monitoring and enforcing data integrity and consistency, troubleshooting and resolving production issues as they arise and will take ownership of the projects and tasks assigned. The position will also play a key role in development of the data warehouse and offer recommendations regarding architecture and best practices.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works collaboratively on various projects with IT staff as well as other departmental staff
- Works on multiple tasks and projects while maintaining excellent communication with Manager of ancillary Solution Support as well as involved staff
- Attend regularly scheduled department and intradepartmental meetings
- As business needs require, may need to work outside of normal business hours
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with SQL Server 2008, 2012 or 2014
- Able to develop data loads and standards (ETL)
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend and write complex T-SQL queries
- Ability to develop data processing scripts
- Ability to build SSIS routines and SSRS reports
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in both business and technical areas
- Demonstrated strength in analytics, logical thinking and problem solving
- Strong organizational skills to handle changing priorities, tight schedules and correction of critical systems
- Demonstrates strong ability to use SQL Server Management Studio
- Demonstrated strong project management skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in a project delivery role is preferred
- Previous experience in the database architect arena including development of data models for applications, metadata tables, views or related database structures
- Previous health care industry experience
- Familiar with Trizetto claims process systems a plus
